Nov 5th, 2006 - We left for the airport at around 5:30. The cab ride took us about 20 minutes. Once we reached the airport, we realized that the flight time had changed to an hour earlier. Luckily we had plenty of time. We went through immigration, went throughsecurity check and boarded the flight. The person who was boarding the flight did a poor job of it and did not pre-board families who had babies. Anyway, I had a  special seat once again with the  bassinet. Once the flight took off, I promptly fell asleep. The flight was fairly smooth but I had some pain in my ears when the flight descended into Bangalore.

Goodbye Singapore

Nov 5th, 2006 - Its Sunday morning, the day when we will be going to India. We woke up early and decided to go out to have breakfast. We went to Swensens for breakfast. As usual,  my parents got me a high-chair and a straw and that kept me entertained for quite a while. After breakfast, we went back to the hotel, took a shower and headed back to Orchard Road. We went to the different shopping malls there like Takashimaya, Scotts Plaza etc. We finally had lunch at a restaurant called Nooch. The menu at the restaurant was as thick as a book with options from Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Singaporean cuisine. My parents decided to eat some Thai cuisine and they enjoyed the food. After that we went back to the hotel room to relax before taking the flight to India.

Tastes of Singapore

Image Nov 4th, 2006 - After seeing Images of Singapore, we had lunch at the restaurant called Tastes of Singapore.  The restaurant is attached to the musuem and offers a sampling of typical Singaporean food. The menu included dishes like Tandoori Chicken, Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Soft Shell Crabs etc. It was a nice looking restaurant. My parents got me a high-chair and a straw and  I played with it till they finished their lunch. Looks like they have found a new formula  to keep me shut. They give me a little straw and I play with it for a while.

Images of Singapore

Image Nov 4th, 2006 - The two major attractions at Sentosa Island are probably the Images of Singapore and the Aquarium. Images of  Singapore is a musuem that has wax exhibits that walks  visitors through the history of Singapore from its inception to modern day. Singapore consists mainly of 4 races, the Chinese, the Malays, Indians and Europeans. The exhibits highlight some of the key traditions of these different races. The main theme is that people of different races can co-exist in harmony. It took us about an hour to go  through this exhibit. I fell asleep for a little while and missed out a few. Luckily  my parents took plenty of pictures.

Sentosa Island - My first cable car ride

 Image

Nov 4th, 2006 - One of the major attractions in Singapore is Sentosa Island. Its a small island off the mainland and has been specially built for tourism. We took a taxi cab to the main starting point. My father bought the tickets and then we went up to the Cable Car ride. There is a beautiful cable car that connects Sentosa Island and the mainland. On the other side, the cable car connects to Mt Faber. We first took the cable car to Mt Faber.  We got a nice view of the city from Mt Faber and then took some pictures there.

On the way back, we went straight to Sentosa Island. There was a nice Finnish husband and wife who were travelling to New Zealand and had stopped over in Singapore for a  couple of days. We reached the island in about 10 minutes. I really enjoyed my first cable car ride. There are lots of things to do on Sentosa Island like a wax musuem, aquarium, the carlsberg tower, 3D Cinema, Go-Karts etc. If you like to go to a beach, there are plenty of beaches on the Island.

Hello Singapore

 Image

Nov 3rd, 2006 - We arrived at Singapore's Changi airport at 6 AM sharp. It was a smooth landing. The gentleman sitting in the seat next to us said that I was a good baby and that I did not disturb them at all. Once we got off the plane, my stroller went missing. My parents
were very disappointed because the stroller was very helpful in moving me around. Fortunately, the airlines found the stroller and my parents were very relieved.

We had 7 suitcases and it would not fit in the regular cab so we took a van to the airport. The ride to the city from the airport took about 30 minutes. The cab driver was very nice and said he would pick us up on the way back as well. We checked into the Meritus Mandarin Hotel on Orchard Stree. The room was very nice, well decorated and they had
a super-sized bed with lots of pillows. I had a wonderful time playing on the bed.
