Ganpati Bappa at the Irving Hindu Temple

Sep 7th,  2008 - Since the Ganesha festival is on, my parents wanted to visit the Irving Hindu Temple. Today was also my grandfather's birthday and so we decided that it was a good reason to visit the temple. We reached the temple around 11:00 AM and it was very crowded, there was no place to park at the temple. Luckily my Dad managed to find a spot. Inside the temple, there was a lot of crowd and everyone was singing. It was very colorful too. Luckily the main ceremony had not started and we were able to go to the different gods and offer our prayers.

Once we done, the main ceremony started. There was a small pooja and then the Lord Ganesha was taken for the "Visarjan" ceremony. The statue of Lord Ganesha was carried on a cart and it made its way outside the temple with many people following the cart and chanting "Ganpati Bappa Moriya". After the ceremony was completed, we came home and had a quiet Sunday at home.

Happy Birthday Ajja

Sep 4th,  2008 - Today is my Ajja's (mother's dad) birthday. He is in India and so all I could do was wish him over the phone. Have anice day Ajja.  It was  typical day for me, I woek up in the morning and went to school. I like going to school a lot. There are some days when I don't want to come back when my mom picks me up. I usually have a play-date on Thursdays with some of the other kids in the school. At around 4 in the afternoon, my mother took me to the Andrew Brown Community Park in Coppell. It was a very big park and I had a lot of fun. There is a choo-choo train in the park.

I like these play dates because I get to play with my friends. Looking forward to my next playdate.

Sep 3rd,  2008 - This week marks the start of the Ganpati festival and we are also celebrating the festival here. My mother has prepared some festival food and also doing some special poojas at home. I like the Sheera that she had prepared, it was really nice. I was walking around saying "I want more Sheera". In India, my granparents have gone to their hometown of Karwar to celebrate Ganpati this year. Many family members come here for this occasion.

I wish we could have all been in India. That would have been a lot of fun. Maybe next year.

Trip to IKEA Frisco

Aug 31st,  2008 - A couple of months ago, I ripped the door out of the Television stand at home and my parents decided that it was time to go and buy a new one. On the spur of the moment, we decided to go to Ikea in Frisco. Its a 20 minute drive for us and close to the Stonebriar Mall where we had been yesterday. When we got there, it was just an hour before closing time and there was a mad rush. It was a long-weekend and that too at the end of the day, not a great idea Dad!! We managed to navigate through the crowd and bought our TV stand. After standing for a while, we managed to get back home before sunset.

Amma had made some nice Kozhi Roti for dinner and I enjoyed it. Thanks Amma.

Fun at Stonebriar Center in Frisco

Aug 30th,  2008 - Labor Day Weekend begins today and my parents decided to go to the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. We had seen it before but never went there. The day started off on a bad note as my Dad's slippers broke just as we reached the mall. Luckily he was able to get a nice pair of slippers at the Macy's store there. After that we spent the rest of the morning in the mall. I had some Dippin Dots ice-cream. My dad took me to the Disney Store and he got me a Mickey Mouse and Friends T-Shirt (which I did not want to take out once I reached home).  We walked around the mall, did some shopping, ran up and down the escalaors. I really enjoy that.

We found that there was a skating rink as well and there were lots of kids learning to skate. Someday I hope to learn how to skate. At one end of the mall we also found a children's play area. I played there for a while and then my parents decided that it as time to go home. This was like any other mall and I had a good idea, especially in the play area. I hope to come back here soon someday.

Trip to a New Doctor

E-mail Print PDF

Aug 27th,  2008 - I have  had a lingering cough that does not seem to go away and so my parents decided to take me to another doctor to get a 2nd opinion. This doctor was a little far away compared to our existing doctor who is just around the corner. The doctor's office was big and they had a lot of story books to read. The docotr took a look at me and said that I seemed fine and it will get better within a few days. She also said that I needed to get a couple of shots and ebfore I knew it, they got me......Sealed

Toddler Games on the iPhone

iPhone Toddler Games Aug 24th,  2008 - My parents both have an iPhone and they both download games for me and I have a lot of fun with those games. The iPhone is a great phone as I can play games with just my fingers and I do not have to learn to press any keys. In case you are wondering how my parents allow me to play with the phone, they make sure its in the airplane mode and they are always with me. While these games are not really toddler games, they do keep me entertained.

iDoodle2Lite - One of my favorite things to do is play with my doodle and my parents found a Doodle for me on the iPhone. The best part is that I can draw with my finger and I can draw in color. I like this one.

BubleWrap -  This is a stupid game but can bring a smile to my face once in a while. The game is like a real bubble wrap and all I do is pop the bubbles with my finger.

Jirbo Match -  This game is rather difficult for me but with my parent's help, I am able to play it. In this games, there are many cards that have pictures of animals on them. The cards are placed upside down and I can open two at a time. The cards remain open when I pick two of the same. I should be able to play this well in a few months.

Expando -  This is a game for adults but kids may like it. Once you press your finger on the screen, a big smiling bubble begins to form. Its really cute.

Eating by Myself

E-mail Print PDF

Image Aug 20th,  2008 - Ever since I have started going to school, I have become more independant and want to do things on my own and my latest thing is to eat on my own. My parents now let me eat my breakfast, lunch and dinner on my own. By the end of the meal, the table is a mess, the floor is a mess and it looks like my clothese ate more than me, but at least I am trying. Wish me luck.
