June 3rd 2006 - India, is the great land from where my parents are and they took me to Little India which is in the city of Artesia. Artesia is about 30 minutes away from where we live. I went to Artesia with my parents and my grandparents. We first went to 99 Ranch Market  , an Asian Grocery store, to buy some fish and vegetables. My grandma's sister and her husband are coming over for lunch and we wanted to make some nice Indian "Bandgda Phaana Upkari".

Ranch 99 is a probably a great store to buy fish as they have a lot of fish from Asia. My mother bought some mackerel and pomfret. We also bought some vegetables here. All in all, my mother was very happy with all the stuff we got here.

After shopping, we crossed the street and went over to the India Restaurant. It was a really hot day and the temperature was close to 95 degrees and walking outside was not very pleasurable.  We had a simple buffet at the restaurant and then headed back home. I did not spend much time at the Indian stores in this visit. Next time around, I will visit all the other shops.

1st June 2006 - June is finally here and summer has started in full swing in LA. It as pretty gray in May, but its bright and sunny in June. My dad decided to work from home today and I was very happy to see him around all day. For most of the day, I played in the living room. In the evening, we went to Costco which is a warehouse near our home. Its such a huge store and all I could do was stare. As you can see behind me, some nice variety of cheese. We did some shopping and then my mom drove us all back home.

Right now, we are watching the Scripps National Spelling Bee. For the past so many years, Indian Americans have dominated this event and they look strong this year too. I will post the results tomorrow.

Image  29th May 2006 - I finally learned to turn over and lie on my stomach. It took 3 months and 2 weeks into my life. I was pretty excited that I kept doing in over and over again. My parents had to finally stop me and put me to sleep. By the morning, I had forgotten this new thing I learnt until I turned over again and then I continued turning over. I suppose this is the first of many "turning points" in my life.......Everyone wants to be a comic these days.....Watch the season premiere of the Last Comic Standing on NBC tomorrow night.

Memorial Day 2006

29th May 2006 Memorial Day - Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May.  It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who died in military service for their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or military action.  Nowadays most Americans use the date as merely marking the unofficial start of the summer vacationing season as many government parks and beaches start their summer schedule on the Friday before.

It was a pretty relaxing weekend for me. We just went around locally to the restaurants and malls. Looking forward to the next long weekend which will be the 4th of July weekend.

GroundHog Day

May 25th 2006 - Have you seen the movie GroundHog Day where the hero relives the same day over and over again. My life seems to be going the same way. I wake up at around 5 AM, have some food, sleep, wake up at 7, eat, play all day, sleep at 9 PM.  How long can this go on? Basically I just hassle my mother to hold me. I am a really naughty behind my innocent face.

In the evening my dad gets home and then he plays with me for a while. I love talking to him with my own baby talk. After that we sit and watch the NBA games. Right now, the NBA Conference Finals are going on. Its Miami vs Detroit in the Eastern Conference and Dallas vs Phoenix in the Western Conference. Today Detroit beat Miami and the series is tied 1-1.

Hopefully this cycle breaks soon.

24th May, 2006 - Today was the finale of American Idol Season 5. The two finalists were Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee. Both gave a great show last night and I was not sure who would emerge the winner. I watched the entire show and my mom had a tough time feeding me as I kept  turning my head to watch the TV. The fans registerd 63 million votes, now thats a lot of phone calls. In the end Taylor Hicks won. I had a great time watching the show, although it made no sense to me.  Maybe next season, I will appreciate some of the music.

Otherwise it was a pretty slow day, I spent all day at home playing with the toys. Lets hope my parents take me out tomorrow. Looking forward to the long weekend.

Adventures in Vegas

J Lo turned her head as I walked into the room, but I played it cool.

18th May 2006 - This was the big day in Vegas, we did a lot of activities today.  We woke up and went down to the restaurants for breakfast. We had a hearty breakfast at Nathan's.  After that, I sat and watched as most of the grown ups went and gambled. It was a great sight for me, to see all those shiny lights and the sound of money. I can only go to the casinos after 21 years .  My father then took my cousins, aunt and Uncle to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. It was a really hot day with the temperatures well over 100 F and the returned home quickly.

For lunch, we went Chin Chin, a Chinese restaurant in the New York, New York Casino. Ney York, New York is a new casino built on the New York theme. The hotel has the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge etc etc. We had a nice leisurely lunch.

Spiderman and me at Universal Studios Hollywood

20th May 2006 - Saturday morning, we all went to Universal Studios in Hollywood. Universal Studios Hollywood is a theme park in Los Angeles where the rides, shows and other events are based on movies made by the Universal Studios company. The park is about 30 minutes away from where we live and my father made two trips to get everyone there.  It was very crowded and there were lots of people there.

Once we got there, we took the Universal Studio Tour which is basically a 45 minute trolley ride through the studio backlot. If you are a movie fan, this is truly a fun ride.
