3 Idiots - My First Movie in a theatre

Dec 31st, 2009 -Today is the last day of 2009 and my parents decided to take a chance and go watch a movie in the theater with me. My parents love to watch movies but ever since I was born they have never ventured near a movie theater (until today that is). They know that making me sit in a chair for 3 hours would be quite an achievement. Seems like the day had finally arrived (or maybe it was the movie) that they decided to take that step. The movie was called 3 Idiots and has been doing very well in India and around the world. We live in an area which has a large Indian community so we did not have to go very far to watch the movie. We went to a nearby Hollywood Theater to watch the movie and by some miracle, I actually sat through the entire show. It was not easy but my parents were armed with a large box of popcorn, juice and some candy. A couple of times, I wanted to leave but my parents managed to hold me.

So, this day will go down in history as the last day of 2009 and my first movie I watched in a theater. Glad it was 3 Idiots, a hit movie, not RGV ki Aag or something like that.

Bhaiyaa, Aaal izz Well!!!

Wish everyone a very happy 2010.

Its Santa Time

 Its Santa Time

Dec 25th, 2009 - Every year, all the kids wait for Santa to come to their homes and give them gifts and I too was excited about today because I was hoping that Santa would come to my house and leave me some presents as well. You see, I have been "Nice" all year, well for the most part at least. I am a 3-year old boy and I would be lying if I said, I was not Naughty this year. I would say that I have been more Nice than Naughty so I should get the benefit of the doubt and if that does not work then my smile should make Santa come this way. I went to bed and left some chocolate for Santa under the Christmas tree.

I woke up all excited to see if Santa had brought me the presents and after brushing my teeth, we went down to see. Lo and Behold, Santa has left many gifts for me and I could not control my excitement and I tore through all the gifts in no time. Santa got me a Jeep, some games and some candy. He also got my mother an iPhone too (I had asked Santa to bring my mother a new iPhone and he listened to me).

I called Ayush Anna and he too got many gifts from Santa. Santa is so nice to bring me and all the kids toys every year. When I grow up, I will help Santa deliver the toys.

and in case you were wondering.......Santa did eat the chocolate as well. If he eats at everyone's house, no wonder he has such a big tummy!!

Melissa and Dougs Play Money Set

Nov 11, 2009 -My parents have bought quite a lot of the Melissa and Doug toys for me ever since I was very small. One of my favorite toys was the Melissa and Doug's farm puzzle. I have started to recognize American coins and also the names of the presidents on the dollar bills so my dad thought this would be a good toys for me (boy was he wrong). The box contains many 1/2 dollars, quarters, dimes, nickels and pennys and also comes with over a 100 different dollar bills.

I had a great time making a mess all over the home as you can see from the pictures. I think this toy will slowly make its way into some cupboard, For those of you who do not know the US presidents, they are

  • 1 dollar - Washington
  • 5 dollars - Lincoln
  • 10 dollars - Hamilton
  • 20 dollars - Jackson
  • 50 dollars - Grant
  • 100 dollars - Franklin

 Fun at Home

Nov 11, 2009 - Its been a few days since I am back from Des Moines and I am having fun being back in my own "adda" and playing with my toys. I like to play with all my toys and spend my day with the activity books, puzzles, cards and my all time favorite cars. When I return from school, I have my lunch and then Amma and I play with my toys for a while before I take a short nap. Once I wake up, I play with my toys again and once in a while, I watch a little bit of TV. My favorite shows are Caillou, Word World and Super Why.

If daddy comes early then he plays with me as well. You may have noticed the change of clothes, its starting to get a little cold so you will see me wearing winter clothes for the next few months.

Turkey Decoration

 Turkey Decoration

November 10, 2009 - Thanksgiving is coming in a couple of weeks and as part of the preparation for Thanksgiving, our teachers gave us homework to decorate a picture of a turkey so that they could put it up in school. My mom and dad were supposed to help with the decoration but I was supposed to to the work. My parents got some crayons, stickers and some glitter glue so that we could decorate it well. I started by coloring the tail of the turkey with Red, orange and yellow color and then colored the body of the turkey with brown. After that we put red and gold glitter all over the  picture to give it a nice shiny look. I was happy with how it turned out.

The other kids in my school did similar things, with some kids putting beads, leaves and feathers.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

 Back to Dallas

Nov 11, 2009 - For the last two weeks, I was in De Moines at my cousin Ayush's house. I had gone there for my Mamamma's 60th birthday celebrations and also to see baby Annika. Its was time to head back to Dallas again. We took an American Airlines flight from Des Moines and it flew straight to Dallas so we were back in less than two hours. My Amma has kept some food and other activity books with her to keep me busy in the plane and we made it without any incidents. Dad was waiting for us at the airport and I was excited to see him. We went home and dad had brought one of my favorite thing, Cajun Pasta from Razzoos.

It was a fun trip but there's no place like home.

I am also excited to return to school tomorrow.

Trip to NTX Auto Museum in Richardson

Oct 3rd, 2009 - For those of you who have met me or been reading my blog, you know my fascination with cars. My dad stumbled upon this new car museum in Dallas called the NTX Auto Museum which is in Richardson. We did not know what to expect as no one else knew about this place.  We went there this morning and there were only 2-3 other visitors to that museum. The musuem had about 70-80 cars and they had many Mercedes Benz cars all the way from the 1930s to new ones. They also had a very old Ford car, a Shelby, some Mustangs, Jeeps and 3 Lotus racing cars. I had never seen a racing car from so close before.

After we left the museum, we spent some time at a local mall and finally had lunch at a place called the "Fish on Fire". We had some fried fish,  corn, fries and blackened fish.

Atharva Annas Birthday

Atharva Annas Birthday

Sep 20th, 2009 - Today was my friend Arjun's elder brother, Atharva anna's 6th birthday. His parents had organized the birthday in the house. All we knew is that is was a Pizza party but we did not know that the kids were going to bake the pizza and that our parents had to eat that. My parents lunch depended on me. Too much pressure for a 3 year old but I was able to handle it. Prashant uncle was the master chef and was telling us what to do. We took some flour, added water, yeast and oil to create the dough. We then kneaded the dough and created the pizza base. After that we applied the sauce before topping it with our favorite toppings which included mushrooms, pineapple, peppers and brocolli. I think my pizza turned out fine but too small to feed 3. Radhika aunty and her friends then baked the pizza and you can see the results in the pictures below. Not bad for my first attempt.

When we started eating, Prashant uncle told us that he had some real pizzas from Pizza Hut. After the pizza, we cut the large birthday cake, sang Happy Birthday to Anna, and ate some ice-cream. What followed the sugar rush was a group of hyperactive boys running around.

Don't I look cute in my Chef's outfit?

June 18, 2009 - Today we went to Arvind and Supriya's house. By relationship, he is my ajja but he is too young to call ajja so I will call then Arvind Uncle and Supriya Aunty. We wanted to visit them because Supriya aunty just had a baby girl called Nayomi and we had not seen her. We went to their house in the evening for tea and a few snacks. Aunty had made some poha, vadas and sandwiches for us.

I also played with Nisa akka for a while and also a little with Nayomi too. We spent a few hours at their house and met everyone at home. I had a lot of fun. They also gave me a car as a gift and my parents went "Oh no, not another car".

May 17th, 2009 - Rajesh Mama who lives is Michigan came to town to stay with us for a day. He has some work here in Dallas this week. Daddy and I went to the airport to pick him up just around lunch time. After we came home, he gave me a toy airplane set from "Delta Airlines". I quickly opened the box and was playing it for the rest of the day.

In the evening, we went shopping to the Vista Ridge Mall. I had a lot of fun at the mall going up and down the escalator and also playing in the kids play area.  At the end of the day, we went to Chaat Cafe for dinner. We came home and both Rajesh Mama and I fell fast asleep on the couch watching TV.

 That was a fun day.
