March 4th, 2010 - March is already here and the weather here in Dallas has started to warm up. For the past few days we have had 60 degree+ weather and that means that my shorts, sandals and half-sleeve Tees are out. We had a long and cold winter by Dallas standards and this warmth is good as it means I can ride my bike in the evenings. To celebrate the return of the heat, my parents also took me to my haircut session at Kiddoos and got me a real short hair cut.
In a few days, it will be time to move the clocks forward for Daylight Savings Time which means even more sunshine. Yahoo!!!
March 5th, 2010 - I was born in Hollywood, but Bollywood runs in my blood. Ever since I can remember, I love watching and listening to Bollywood songs. My dad used to get these song DVDs and I would sit and watch them. The first song that I can remember was "Deewangi Deewangi" from Om Shanti Om, then I got hooked onto Jhoom Barabar Bhoom, Dostana, Billu and now I like the song Ektara. Now that I am four, my parents do not let me watch the Bollywood movies and it mainly has to do with the free use of the word that starts with an S and ends with a HIT! Well, you see, these Bollywood actors and directors don't realize that kids like us like to watch these movies and if you say Oh S, Oh S, Oh S....thats the first thing we pick up. Another word my parents don't want me to pick up also starts with S and ends with TUPID.
Because of that I have not seen any movie in the last so many days. My dad only puts songs for me. So, can these directors please stop using the S word unless its really essential to the plot.
In the words of Mr Shakthi Kapoor....main ek nanha sa, pyaara sa bacchha so....please let me be that way.
Have a nice weekend. My Dad said he will take me to the Dallas Auto Show and show me some cars including a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin.
Dec 26th, 2008 - We decided to go to San Antonio and see the Alamo and the Riverwalk area. We left home early in the morning hoping to get to San Antonio a little after lunch time. It took us about 5 hours to get to San Antonio and for the most part it was a smooth drive. We got to the hotel, took a brief break and decided to go to see the Riverwalk and the Alamo which were very close to our hotel. The weather was very pleasant and we were able to roam around without any warm clothing.
We walked around the Riverwalk area which was very crowded. We stopped at the Texas Cafe for a quick bite where we had some nice Mushroom Fritters and Mac & Cheese before we headed to the Alamo. After we went and saw the Alamo, we went back to the hotel room to freshen up.
We returned to the Riverwalk after sunset and the place was even more crowded. Since it was a holiday weekend and a Friday night, there was virtually no space to move. Some of the restaurants have 2-3 hour waits. We managed to find a place where we could grab a bit before we headed home.
We could not ride the boat because the wait time was over 2 hours. Can you imagine me standing in line for 2 hours. If you can get 2 minutes from me, that would be an achievement. Next time we will come at a quieter time.
Ayush Anna will be coming from Des Moines tomorrow so we will return back.
Dec 26th, 2008 - One of the most famous US landmarks is the Alamo in San Antonio. It was the place where the Battle of the Alamo was fought here. Since it was a long weekend, the Alamo was pretty crowded and it took us about 30 minutes to get in and see the insides of the Alamo.
After that we spent some time in the garden around the Alamo before returning to our hotel room.
Dec 20th, 2008 - After our trip to Fossil Rim, we decided to stop over at something called the Dinosaur World which is in Glen Rose, Texas. We were warned that this place is not that great but my parents decided to give it a shot anyway. The Dinosaur World is nothing but a large piece of land with a lot of real life plastic dinosaurs. Unless you are really a big fan of dinosaurs and know something about it, you can finish the entire exhibit in about 15-20 minutes. We saw all the dinosaurs of different sizes and various colors as we walked around the park and then we bought a few toys at the store and headed home.
Dinosaur World also had a museum, a fossil dig area and a play area for kids. The cost of the tickets is about $12 and not really worth it. There is a Dinosaur State Park close by where actual dinosaur world
Dec 20th, 2008 - My parents took me to a wildlife park close to Dallas called the Fossil Rim Adventure Park. Its about and hour and a half from where we live. We reached the park at around 11:30 in the morning. We bought the tickets and along with that we also got a bag of animal food. The park is a lot of fun, we can drive around the park in our own car with the windows down and the animals come close to the window looking for food. You will see from the pictures. On the trip I saw a lot of animals
Deer
Gazelle
Rhinos
Giraffes
Zebras
I had a lot of fun with the animals. I threw food at them and it was very exciting. My parents even fed the giraffes with their own hands but I was too small to reach out to them. I hope we can come here when I am older.
"I am ready to spell my name, each and every letter Its almost like a game, each day it gets better. "
My mother has taught me how to spell my name and today I decided to take my large alphabet puzzle pieces. Unfortunately, my name has two Is so while my real name is N I K H I L, I was only able to spell it as NIKHL which still says NIKHIL. I really enjoy spelling my name.
Dec 4th, 2008 - One of the things that I love to do at school is play with Play-Doh. For those who do not know what Play-Doh is, its like clay that kids can play with to make whatever our minds imagine. Right now all I care about it to putting it in my hands and have fun. My mother taught me how to make a sphere and then we used some bits of the play-doh to spell my name ...N I K H I L.
Nov 15th, 2008 - After the trip to the first WalMart store, we decided to go to Eureka Springs which was about 25 miles away from Rogers. It was a pretty drive and we really got to enjoy the drive because we were stuck behind a big truck. It took us an hour to get there and we drove around the town on something called the "Historic Loop". It was rather difficult to find any parking and it was very cold ad gloomy outside so we decided to enjoy Eureka Springs from the comfort of the car.
Just outside the town there is an interesting cave called the Onyx cave and it has formations of the stalactites and stalagmites. We decide to go and see that as its something my parents had never seen before. The cave is quite small and you can walk through most of it in about 20 minutes but it was interesting all the same.
We decided to head back to Dallas stopping by in Fayetteville on the way.
Nov 15th, 2008 - Our first stop was to Sam Walton's 5 & 10 store in downtown Bentonville. This was the very first the Sam Walton opened, well now there are thousands of Wal-Marts all over the world and Walmart is the largest retailer in the world now.
The original store front still remains but now the inside is a museum. The museum has many things including
A History of Walmart from the 50s until today
A history of International growth of Walmart
Sam Walton's chartitable causes
Information about his family
There are lot of his personal memorobilia including his office, his Ford pickup truck and other personal effects.
If I was older, I would certainly have been inspired, but for today, I was only interested in his Ford Truck.
