May 28th, 2007 - In the evening we decided to go to the Burton Chase Park in Marina Del Rey to watch the sunset and then have dinner at a local restaurant there. This is the first time I have been to the park since I have been able to walk. I quite enjoyed the freedom of the open space and the cool marina breeze.

Dinner at the Terried Sake House
 | May 23rd, 2007 - We came dinner at the Terried Sake House, a Japanese restaurant in Santa Monica. My father's friend Ramesh also joined us for dinner. We were here to celebrate my grandma's 60th birthday. The restaurant is a small place, very simple but the food is very good. My parents were surprised that they did not have a high-chair for me which meant, I had complete freedom to run around. I spent part of the evening on the stool and part of the evening on Santa Monica Blvd. I entertained the passers-by on the street with my big smiles and loud screams. |
By the time we got home I was really tired and fell asleep. We had a great day.
Happy Birthday Bapamma
| May 23rd, 2007 - Today is May 23rd. Its my grandma's 60th birthday. The 60th birthday is a special birthday and I wish I could have been there with my grandma. Since I could not be there, I sent my grandma a nice Black Forest birthday cake to her home in Bangalore. My mother also baked a chocolate cake at home. In the evening, we will be going out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. |
Laundry Basket Fun
| May 22nd, 2007 - Now that I have become more active, I have started to show my true colors. My mother neatly keeps all the laundry in a laundry basket and I love to go there and throw them all out. I have a nice fluid motion alternating my left and right hand as I throw the clothes out. Sometimes, I just jump into the basket and sit there. I love it in here.!!! |

15 month visit to Dr Woo
| 18th May 2007 - I had to visit Dr Woo today for my 15 month check up. Its a routine check to see how I am doing. I am 33 1/2 inches tall and 24 pounds 2 oz heavy. I am very tall yet average weight for toddlers my age. I told him that I walk on my own comfortably, eat many things, babble something. The doctor said that I was fine and there was nothing to worry about. So far so good, I thought I was all done, but then Nurse Stacy came and gave me a shot. Bam!! I cried for a couple of minutes and then I was OK. She put a nice Batman band-aid on my arm. |
After that we went to Costco, Albertsons and did some of our weekly shopping. We then went to a new Persian restaurant called Javan Restaurant in Santa Monica. I liked the food and I entertained all the people around me. It was a fun day except for the shot.
Doing my own chores
May 17th, 2007 - My mother is very particular in keeping the house tidy (read my father is not that particular). My mother has already started training me on putting my clothes in the laundry basket. I also help her with folding the laundry but its usually means picking up all the clothes and tossing them around.
Climbing off the bed
May 15th, 2007 - As a new born baby, my parents would put me on the bed sometimes during the day. They would surround me with pillows to make sure I would not fall. Early on it was not a problem because I was not able to turn, but once I reached 5-6 months, I began to turn and it became more dangerous. They stopped putting me on the bed since they. Now that I am a little older, I have learnt to get off the bed myself and not hurt myself. Click on the video to watch me in action.
Get Up Stand Up
May 7th, 2007 - As I have crossed 14th months, it looks like I have started to observe things a lot and like to imitate things that others around me do. Some of things that I do are "Oh thats so cute" , but some of things that I do probably upset my parents like when I turn the TV on and off. I have reduced putting things in my mouth but I want to reach out at everything. My parents have made sure that most of the things are beyong my reach, but I almost managed to out smart them one day. Unfortunately, it was caught on tape :-(
Back in Action
Its been a tough few days for me and my parents with the stomach flu of mine, but its all gone now. My stomach seems to be OK now but my parents want me to be on Pedialyte for another day before I return to drinking milk. Looks like I am making up for the 2-3 days of mischief today.
Imitating Others
 | May 3rd, 2007 - Seems like I have started imitating what my parents and other around me do. Its part of growing up. Some of the thing that I have started doing are - I try to eat from a bowl using a spoon.
- I picked up a ear bud once and tried to put it in my ears but my mother stopped me right away.
- I pick up keys and try to open the door.
- Today I tried to use the ear thermometer to check my temperature
Still no change in my stomach virus but I am OK otherwise. |

Still Down but not out
 | May 2nd, 2007 - Looks like there is no change in my condition. Its been 3 days now and its still the same. My mother is doing a good job keeping my hydrated and changing my diapers during the day. My stomach pains once in a while and I cry sometimes. I don't want to be left alone at any time. My mom says I have become a "Chipku". I feel so helpless that I cannot do anything and have to trouble her. Lets see what happens tomorrow. Also, Uncle Amiya left yesterday so the house feels a little empty now. |

Bitten by the Stomach Bug
 | May 1st, 2007 - Its International Labour Day, but it not a holiday here, dad had to go to work. They say April Showers bring May Flowers, but it looks like May had brought me sickness. I seem to have caught a stomach virus which is really bad. Apparently the first attacke is very difficult for babies because our immune system cannot handle it. |
My parents took me to Dr Woo. He checked me out to make sure I have no other problem such as fever and I checked out OK there, thankfully. He said that there is nothing he can do to treat this and that it will work itself out over the next few days. The main thing is apparently to keep my hydrated and also change my diet. He recommended that I drink plenty of water or Pedialyte. He also asked me to stop milk and have more starchy foods such as rice and potatoes. Lets hope I get well soon.
