June 30th, 2007 - For most people, coming to Disneyland is a dream of a lifetime. I guess I am fortunate because Disneyland is really in my backyard (so to speak). We live about 30 miles away from Disneyland and since Ayush Anna was in town, we thought we would go visit Disneyland and have a fun day. We left home around 9:30 and were in the park by around 11:00 AM. Once we entered the park we were greeted by Goofy, Donald Duck, Chip N Dale and some of the other Disney characters.
The rest of the day we spent around the park visting Mickey's House, Toontown and finally watched the parade before we headed home. Click on the link below to see some pictures. {smoothgallery}

Trip to Mickey Mouse's House
{smoothgallery} | June 30th, 2007 - A trip to Disneyland is incomplete if you don't visit Mickey's House. Mickey Mouse is special and you do not find him roaming around the park like you would find his buddies, Goofy and Donald. You have to go to ToonTown to visit Mickey. Once you are in ToonTown, you will find Mickey's house and then wait in this long line that takes you to a room where you can meet Mickey and take a picture. |
We waited in line for about an hour before we finally got to Mickey and its really not fun for a toddler like me who wants to run around. Many people got tired and quit the line in between. At the end, I got to meet Mickey Mouse and take a picture with him.
Father's Day 2007
17th June, 2007 - Today is Father's Day and its my 2nd Father's Day. Last year I was too small to understand anything, but now I am bigger and much smarter. My mother and I went to the HallMark store a few days ago and I picked a card for my dad. Yes, I really did pick one of the cards and my mother decided to take that one. My father liked the card a lot. My mother decide to treat my father for lunch and we went to a local Indian restaurant called Jaipur for lunch. Too bad it was a Sunday and Dad has to go to work tomorrow.
Lunch at Vidhya Mhave
June 16th, 2007 - One of my mother's cousin Vidhya Mhave lives in Rancho Palos Verdes which is not far from where we live. She had invited us for lunch at her place so that should could meet Ayush and Aunt Hema. She had made some nice Chicken Curry, Pulao and other great tasting Indian curries. I managed to eat my fair share of it. Their house was a new playground for me and I tried to pull a few things and they quickly moved those things to higher ground.
After lunch, we had some Gulab Jamun as well. Ayush Anna and I managed to spend some time playing in the balcony. In the late afternoon, we drove to the coast in Rancho Palos Verdes. We took a long walk around the coast. It ws very beautiful. All in all it was a nice way to spend a Saturday.

Snoqualmie Falls
June 8th, 2007 - We decided to go and see the Snoqualmie Falls just outside of the city of Seattle. The drive to the falls was very beautiful, very lush and green. Once we got to the Falls, we parked outside and walked to the Falls. The fall is a 268 ft drop. Its one of the most popular tourist destinations in Seatlle. It was not very crowded when we got there and the weather was also plesant. It was nice. Click below to see the pictures.

Visit to the Microsoft Visitor Center/Museum
June 7th 2007 - Microsoft is one of the world's biggest software companies and I was lucky enough to visit their Employee Store and their Visitor Center. My uncle used to work there but he left Microsoft a few months ago. We went there to see their Visitor Center which basically is a museum with the history of how computers and Microsoft have evolved over time. It also gives us a glimpse of some things in the future. It was a small center and we spent a few minutes there. I got to take a picture with all the Microsoft founders too. :-)
We also met one of my uncle's friend, Campbell which came there to help us buy some software at Employee prices. My father said the prices were really good. My mother purchased a "Microsoft Kid" shirt for me. How nerdy!!

Dinner with Uncle Ashu at the Market Street Bistro
June 6th, 2007 - Ashu Uncle is a friend of my father and my uncle. They grew up in the same neighbourhood in Mumbai and now he lives in Seattle. Guess they never imagined growing up that they would meet halfway around the world in Seattle. We first went to Ashu uncle's house. He had a pet cat. I think I scared him and he ran away as I came close to him. I think some other kids may have pulled his tail in the past and now he is afraid of kids. We then went to this little Bistro called the Market Street Bistro for dinner. It was French cooking and I tried some of it as well. I was more interested in running around the restaurant. They had a nice long walkway for me to run back and forth. Luckily no one else was there at the restaurant and I could do all the screaming that I wanted. We took a nice group picture as well.
Visit to the Space Needle
June 4th, 2007 - The Space Needle is a tower in Seattle and is a major landmark of the Pacific Northwest and is a symbol of Seattle. The Space Needle was constructed in 1962 and is about 605 ft tall. My uncle livs very close to the Needle and so we went there today in the evening to see the sunset. We parked a couple of blocks away and walked to the Needle. Since it was a week day and also relatively late, there was no crowd at all. We bought our tickets and then went to the elavator.
The elevator takes us to the Observation Deck which is at a height of 520 ft. From there we were able to get a 360degree view of Seattle, its surrounding mountains, water bodies. It was rather cold and windy but I had a great time there. We took lots of pictures. When my parents let me down, I ran all over the observation deck. We finally returned home a little before sunset.

Mukilteo Lighthouse
June 3rd, 2007 - The Mukilteo Lightouse is a lighthouse just outside of Seattle in the town of Mulkiteo. We drove there to spend the Sunday afternoon. It was a nice scenic drive. On the way, we passed one of the Boeing Assembly plants. It was cool to see the bih hangars. The lighthouse itself was very beautiful and with the blue sky in the background it looked really nice. We stood on the lawn, took some pictures and then had lunch at Ivars. The food was OK but the restaurant setting was very nice. I was very unhappy to be strapped to the highchair and wanted to run around. My parents and my uncle had to take turns to look after me.

Lunch at the Spice Route, Seattle
June 2nd, 2007 - Spice Route is a new restaurant that opened in Bellevue and my uncle thought that it would be a good idea to go there for lunch. We got there a little before noon and managed to get a table very quickly. They had a buffet with lots of tasty options with both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes. I ate some Naan and a sample of various dishes that my parents fed me. My parents and uncle enjoyed the food a lot. I sat in my high chair for a few minutes but after that I wanted to run around the restaurant. They had a little stage in one corner and I started running on it and it kept me busy.
It was good we came in early because around 1, there was a huge mob outside waiting for place. Seems like this place is very good.
Visiting Seattle
June 1st, 2007 - Seattle is where my uncle Sachin lives and my mother and I had never visited Seattle before, so this trip was long pending. We took a Friday evening flight into Seattle and got in late around 10 PM. I was very unhappy in the flight and kept crying and my poor parents had to take me to the back of the flight to keep me entertained. The air-stewardesses were very nice to me. One elder American gentleman spoke to me in Hindi and said "Sab theek ho jayega beta". Strange but true.
I am excited to be in Seatlle and am looking forward to visiting some of the landmarks like the Space Needle, the Public Market, Snoqualmie Falls and other interesting places. Please keep reading my blogs.
