Happy Birthday Mamamma

E-mail Print PDF

 Image

28th Oct, 2006 - Today is my Grandmother's (Mamamma) birthday. It also my Aunt Nutan's birthday too. Both of them are in Mumbai. We called them and wished them. I babbled a little on the phone and conveyed my wishes too. My grandmother spoke to me, sangs some songs to me and told me how excited she was that I was coming to see her in a few days.

We are very close to our India trip and there is still some last minute shopping to be done, not a lot, just a few things. We went to the WestField Mall in Culver City and managed to find all the things we wanted. We then had dinner at my parents favorite Thai Restaurant, Thai Klang Dong.  They always give me a fortune cookie, and mine was perfect. It said "A pleasant journey to places far away".........How did they know?

Drinking on my own

24th Oct, 2006 - I have started drinking on my own now.  My parents had to hold the bottle for me, but I have learnt to hold the bottle myself and drink milk on my own. I like doing it as I can drink at my own pace and if I find something interesting to do, I can drop the bottle and move on to the other thing. Once my parents see me playing with the toy, they give the botlt back to me. I have noticed that this way, I am able to drink the milk to the last drop. At the end of my feed, my parents give me a big hug and I give them a big burp in return.

I am pretty hungry baby and when I am hungry I let them know. I will start groaning and then the strength and frequency of the groans gets louder and louder till I get my bottle. Sometimes, when I see the bottle or hear the sound of the milk in the bottle, I get really excited.

Still love rolling under the bed

E-mail Print PDF

Image 23rd Oct 2006 - Ever since I have started rolling, I love to roll under the furniture at home, be it the futon, chairs, beds or my own crib.  I love to roll under them and then play around for long time. As long as I am not hurting myself, my parents let me play there as it seems to be onwway to keep my quiet and distracted. we will never know why I get so fascinated by the table, but I do. My First Diwali

 Image

October 21, 2006 - Today is Diwali, or Deepawali, one the most important festivals for Hindus. Diwali is also known as the "Festival of Lights," it symbolises the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for mankind.  This is my first Diwali, so it was a special day at home. We woke up early and I was given the traditional Diwali bath. My parents applied some oil all over me and gave me a nice warm water bath. I felt really good. After that, they dressed me in some traditional Indian clothes. I think I looked good in it.

We still had a little bit of shopping to do for our India trip and so we went to the Citadel Outlet Mall in the city of Commerce. Its one of the most family friendly toilets that my parents have been too. There are at least 2 or 3 family rooms for babies. The toilets are nice and spacious and generall well-maintained.

Image  Oct 18th, 2006 -It was 10:50 AM and I finally managed to sit up by myself. It was a bit of a struggle with my leges crossed underneath me, but I finally managed to sit by myself. Its not perfect, but I think it was a good start. My mother was watching me struggle through it and took some pictures so that the magical moment was captured. Oct 17th 2006 - Well, Its not me. I was born on the 15th of February so I figure I must be in the 299 millionth group. Guess I was one in a million. The US census bureau estimates that with a baby being born every 8 seconds, someone dying every 12 seconds and the nation gaining an immigrant every 31 seconds on average, the population is growing by one person every 14 seconds. Today, October 17th 2006, the clock officially crossed the 300,000,000 mark at around 8:00 AM this morning.

Its taken the US about 40 years to go from 200 million to 300 million.

More Shopping

October 15th, 2006 - Shopping is the national pastime in the US and looks like I love this pastime. We wnet to Babies 'R Us today to shop some more for our trip to India. This time it was more for the essentials such as baby wipes, travel soap, disposable bibs, diapers etc. This is first time I will be leaving the country, going on a long flight so my parents want to be absolutely sure that I have a good time. We got all the things that we wanted. I had my lunch at the Mothers Break Room in the store. After that we went to the Belacan Grill for lunch. Its a Malaysian restaurant in Redondo Beach that my parents have begun to like.

They had some Chicken Satay, Nasi Lemak and Grilled Eggplant. They really liked the Grilled Eggplant. After that we went to Target to get some more essentials and then headed back home for a relaxing evening.

Oct 14th, 2006 - I will be visiting India in the month of November and so my parents are out shopping for gifts and goodies for our family back home and some clothes for me. We like Camarillo Premium Outlet Mall as its a single place where most of the clothes retailers have stores.  We went to all the kids clothing stores like Hartstrings, Baby Gap, Carters, Osh-Kosh-BGosh. My parents bought me a bunch of new clothes that I will be wearing on the flight and in India. I am going to be looking goooooooood.

I also sat on one of the rides, it was a police car. I got scared at first but then I seemed to enjoy it.

Can someone help me understand why I seem to have visited only the Ladies room and never been to the Mens Room..........

Friday the 13th

E-mail Print PDF

Oct 13th 2006 - Its the first Friday the 13th of my life and it makes me terribly nervous. The good thing is that its Friday so I am happy that my parents will be with me over the weekend. I had a pretty normal day at home, played around the house, had my feeds on a regular basis, hassled my mother a little bit...............the usual stuff.

In the evening, we went to Costco to do some shopping and for some reason I got really sick and threw up all my dinner, 7 oz of milk, all over me. It was the first time in my life that I threw up like this. Guess "Friday the 13th" did really affect me.  I am not looking forward to Halloween Embarassed. See the pumpkins in the background.

Oct 11th, 2006 -  I am feeling a lot better today. My fever has gone down, but my cough and cold remains. I slept well last night (slept like a baby).  I was in a good mood today and I spent the day playing with my cousin Ayush. We played downstairs in the living room for almost all day. He will be returning back to Des Moines on Thursday. I will really miss him. We have had many guests at home ever since I was born and I really have a good time when there are people in the house.

My first All Nighter

E-mail Print PDF

ImageOctober 9th, 2006 - Last night was my first all-nighter according to my parents. I seemed to have picked up a fever, along with some cough and cold and I did not sleep much at all. I was crying all night and my parents had to console me.   Finally at around 6 AM, I got a little tired and slept for a couple of hours. Later that morning, we went to see Dr Woo again. He checked me and said that all I had was some fever, cough and cold and there was nothing to worry about. No medicines...All I had to do was take some Infant Tylenol in case the temperature went above 100 F.  As the day progressed, I began to feel much better. I hope I get some sleep tonight. I really want my parents to get a good night's rest.

More Teeth

 Image

Oct 3rd, 2006 - I got my lower two teeth a couple of months ago and they have grown quite well. Now my upper two teeth have also come out. So now I have 4 teeth for the world to see. I don't think these teeth troubled me as much as the time I got my lower two teeth. I was visibly more irritated and drooled a lot more the last time.

To honor the arrival of my new teeth, my parents have got me a baby tooth brush and some baby toothpaste. Yes, we have tooth-paste too like you adults. Its flouride free and safe to swallow. I don't know how to spit as yet. I can throw up but not spit. You can see the picture of my first tooth brush and tooth paste.

My Cousin Ayush

Oct 2nd 2006 - My cousin Ayush is visting me from Des Moines this week. He is about a year older than I am. I las saw him a few months ago in San Diego before he moved back to Iowa. Its fun to have another child in the house. I seem to be distracted watching him running around the house. Since my aunt is also in the house, I have plenty of faces to see and I tend to be happier when I see faces.

He will be around for the next 10 days and I am hoping I can learn some tips and tricks to do more Masti. After all, boys will be boys.
